Terms of Service

1. Agreement to These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Treehouse, the family organization service available on iOS, Android, and the web at treehousetasks.com (the "Service"). The Service is operated by Dev Byte Labs ("Treehouse," "we," "us," or "our").

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of a household or organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that household or organization.

2. The Service

Treehouse helps families coordinate shared tasks, chores, routines, calendars, lists, goals, polls, chat, and related household planning features. Features available on the Free plan and Premium (Pro) plan may change over time as we improve the product.

We may update, add, or remove features. We will try to avoid disrupting core Free forever access described on our website, but we may change specific Free features as the product evolves.

3. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be able to form a binding contract under applicable law to create a Treehouse account. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for accounts and use by children in their family group.

You are responsible for:

  • Keeping login credentials confidential
  • Activity that occurs under your account
  • Ensuring family members you invite use the Service appropriately

Notify us promptly at support@treehousetasks.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Family Groups

Treehouse is built around family (or household) groups. Content you create may be visible to other members of your group according to permissions and product behavior. You are responsible for who you invite and what you share within the group.

5. Free and Premium Plans

5.1 Free plan

Treehouse offers a free forever base. Free access does not expire solely because time has passed, though specific Free features and limits may change.

5.2 Premium / Pro

Paid plans unlock additional features for the household covered by the subscription. Unless we state otherwise in product copy or checkout, Premium is billed per family/household (not per person or per device).

Subscriptions may be purchased through:

  • Web checkout (for example Stripe)
  • Apple In-App Purchase / App Store subscriptions
  • Google Play billing where offered

Billing terms, renewal, taxes, and refunds for store purchases are also governed by Apple's or Google's applicable terms. Web subscriptions are governed by these Terms plus the payment provider's terms shown at checkout.

Cancel anytime according to the platform where you subscribed (web account settings, App Store subscriptions, or Google Play subscriptions). Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not always refund the current period unless required by law or the store's policy.

Trials or introductory offers, if offered, will state their length and when paid billing begins. If you do not cancel before a trial ends as described at signup, you authorize us (or Apple/Google) to charge the applicable subscription price.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, harassing, or abusive purposes
  • Upload malware or attempt to disrupt or reverse engineer the Service except as allowed by law
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Scrape, abuse APIs, or overload the Service in ways that harm other users or our infrastructure
  • Use the Service to process or store content you do not have rights to share
  • Circumvent plan limits, trial eligibility, payment, or security controls

We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or to protect users, children, or the Service.

7. User Content

You retain ownership of content you create in Treehouse. Our license to host and operate that content is described in Content Rights.

You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of content you submit.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information. By using the Service, you also acknowledge that policy.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service may integrate with third parties (for example calendar providers, payment processors, app stores, analytics, or AI assistants and connectors you choose to enable). Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

If you connect Treehouse to an external assistant or connector platform, you authorize sharing of the data needed for that connection, subject to your settings and that platform's rules.

10. Intellectual Property

Treehouse, including its software, design, branding, and documentation, is owned by Dev Byte Labs and its licensors. These Terms do not grant you ownership of the Service. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute our software or branding except as we expressly allow.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE.

Treehouse is a coordination tool. It is not a substitute for professional advice (medical, legal, financial, or otherwise), emergency services, or parental judgment.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DEV BYTE LABS AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50, IF YOU USE ONLY THE FREE PLAN.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent allowed.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify Dev Byte Labs against claims arising from your misuse of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnity) survive termination.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If a change is material, we may also provide additional notice (for example in-app or by email).

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Florida will have exclusive jurisdiction for disputes that cannot be resolved informally, except where prohibited by consumer protection law.
